Album One

2.  Waiting (2:32)

My first attempt at a 12 bar and a religious subject. Probably written in 1971 or thereabouts.

2. Waiting

WAITING

I’m waiting in the pathways,

I’m waiting in the rain,

I’m waiting for the man who gave it in his pain

I’m waiting in the daytime.

I’m waiting in the night;

I’m waiting for the man who’ll put it all to right.

I’m waiting for the man who is waiting for me,

He has come from a distance, walked across the sea

I am waiting in the pathways; I’m waiting here in vain

I’m waiting for the man who gave it in his pain

“Look at me!” he said,

“Oh boy, when you’re dead you’ll wish that you were with me and you’ll wish you were saved!”

I’m waiting in the garden; I’m waiting on the hill

I’m waiting for the man who they’ll never really kill

I’m waiting here so quietly; I’m waiting on my own

I’m waiting for the man who’ll make my heart his home.

You come, from out of my sight,

You come from smiling eyes,

You come, from out of my heartbeat and all my praise

You come from out of my sight

You come from crying eyes,

You come from out of my heartbeat, and all my praise.

I’m waiting for the man....
