SWANSONG

And even though the world is slowly ending

And even though you stand in front of me

And even though the love I had is over,

Can you remember the times that used to be?

And even though I’ll never lose my feelings.

And even though my love for you is strong

And even though your life is never ending

Will you smile at others never to be wrong?

You’ll sell the one beside you for another

You’ll watch the world smiling from the page

Listen to the sound of adulation

And the quiet careful compliments are made

The people stand around you and are watching

The people wait in silence for their death

Do not try to think the time is passing;

Do not even think that I have left.

The swan swims past the riverside,

She watches me with gentle eyes

I raise the gun and aim the sight:

I pull the trigger firing blind

The blood flows down the lonely side,

It stains the feathers red from white

I cannot stop a quiet cry as morning changes into night.

And even though the world is slowly ending

And even though you stand in front of me

And even though the love I had is over,

Can you remember the times that used to be?

And even though I’ll never lose my feelings.

And even though my love for you is strong

And even though your life is never ending

Will you smile at others never to be wrong?
