This tale is about a lot of cant

And kings who all were sycophants

The story that I now recount could very well become a rant

The first king took a leading role and then he got us in a hole

The risk he took just didn’t work and so we ended in the dirt - 4 Kings

 

That first king left us in disgrace,

Never again to show his face

It could have given us breathing space, 

But we ended up in a very bad place

The second king was indecisive

Tried too hard but was divisive

Tried to pull another trick but it was all just rhetoric.

The third king came from the jesting trade,

He used to think he had it made

He looked around for accolades

But all he got was a big blockade.

He took the law into his hands,

But his argument was built on sand

The people knew it was underhand

And many didn’t understand.

Lies and deceit became too much,

And the king seemed to lose his touch

The joking had become a crutch

And maybe we had had enough

- 4 Kings

 

The third king left us in disgrace

And so we had to turn and face

To find some else to replace,

Hopefully with a bit more grace,

- 4 Kings

 

Many times the Kings tilted at the walls

But defences held firm and the bricks failed to fall

The Kings lost their way so they all had to go.

It was all turning into a bit of a shit show.

The fourth King didn’t last too long,

Slightly shorter than this song

Everything went badly wrong;

It seems that you can be too strong

- 4 Kings

 

This song is all about four Kings and the mess they put us in

Whatever it was they tried to sell 

All we know is that four Kings lead to Hell
